Loose Files and American Scramble is a set of rules by Andy Callan, one of my favorite originators of Neat Ideas™ for miniatures games. The game was originally published in Wargames Illustrated #1 in 1987, with an accompanying article explaining the background and the author's thinking on the topic. I have attached PDFs of the original article and the rules to this page so they're easy to find. As usual with Andy Callan's games, I loved some of his ideas, but found many of the game mechanics half-baked and in need of work. Apparently Dave Brown (author of General de Brigade) agrees with me, because he borrowed some of the core ideas for his own set of AWI rules called British Grenadier. |
